Daniella Dorsette Selected as Ms. CSU

Daniella Dorsette Selected as 2022-2023 Ms. Central State University

Responsibility will enable Dorsette to represent the University at a variety of functions and opens the door to many leadership opportunities

WILBERFORCE, OH - Central State University junior, Daniella Dorsette is an Honors Business Administration major with a concentration in marketing. She has a myriad of accomplishments including being on the President’s and Dean’s lists, serving as a Board of Trustees and President Round Table Student Representative, being selected as the 75th Miss Central State University, working as a social media strategist for CSU, being selected as a Greenwood Project Scholar, and becoming a National Sales network Ambassador. Ms. Dorsette has received many scholarships, including the College of Business, Freshman, Honors College, and Charles Ted Sampson Jr. Scholarships. Her awards and recognitions include the Gumby award, the Most Involved Resident Advisor award, and being inducted into Alpha Kappa Mu Honors and Delta Mu Delta Honors.

Ms. Dorsette’s decided to attend Central State University because “has proven to be a land of opportunity and a community of world changers.” She wanted to attend CSU because of the wealth of opportunities she would have to grow inside and outside of the classroom. She also wanted to experience life away from home and build lifelong relationships. She says that “Central State is my home and will always be my home.”

The Honors College Executive Director, Dr. Paul Schlag, says that “Daniella Dorsette is an outstanding example of a student who is obtaining a degree with the intent of helping others. She is an exceptional leader for the International Student Organization and for the University as Ms. CSU. She intends to use her business acumen to develop programs that provide support for other individuals, which is one of the founding principles of the Honors College.”

Ms. Jessica Ngoie, Director of Marauder Leadership and Engagement in Student Affairs, knows that “Daniella is a well-rounded student who strives for excellence in all that she does.”

Dr. Theresa Aikens, the Honors and International Student Advisor, noted that Daniella had a difficult first year, but overcame social problems, excelled academically, and immersed herself in the CSU culture. She now runs two businesses, is part of several campus organizations and initiatives, has completed internships, and works on campus. Dr. Aikens says she is “poised, personable, and successful.”

After Dorsette completes her degree, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in higher education, where she will work with other students, providing them with daily encouragement. She wishes to inspire young individuals, so that they know that no matter who they are or where they come from, “they can achieve all of their academic milestones with dedication, perseverance, and resiliency.” After she completes her master's degree, she wishes to become a Dean of Students who teaches foundational studies and builds an innovative and well-rounded college experience for students.

Ms. Dorsette would like to thank God because she is only able to do all of what she does because of Him. She wants to thank her mother for being the driving force behind what she does. Further, she wishes to thank Mr. Kermit Forbes, her sponsor; Ms. Monique Hinsey and her team at The Ministry of Education; Ms. Hall and Ms. Bethel, her high school counselors; Ms. Harper and her team in CSU’s Career Services; Ms. Ngoie and Ms. Jarrett, Dean of Students; Dr. Schlag, Dr. Aikens, Ms.Armstrong and the Honors College staff for their efforts to highlight and support her achievements; Dr. Fluker and her team in Institutional Advancement; her friends and family who have supported her journey; and herself for never giving up even when adversities rose against her. Finally, she wants to acknowledge those she may not have mentioned, saying she has not forgotten you and has a great appreciation for you.
