WILBERFORCE, OH - Keante’ Lewis is a sophomore at Central State University from Baltimore, Maryland. Lewis is an honors student majoring in Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Media. She is a Central State University Trustee Scholar as well as a Strada Presidential Leadership Scholar. She is also a member of the Saint Frances Academy National Honors Society.

After graduating from high school with a 4.1 GPA, Lewis was accepted to many different universities, including Ivy League institutions. She decided to attend an HBCU to avoid racism, discrimination, and inequality experienced by her race. While visiting Central State, Lewis says that everyone was very welcoming, and it felt like home. After her visit, she had no hesitation or reservations about committing to CSU.

Lewis is Vice President and Co-Founder of the Honors Student Association and President and founder of Central State University's Central State News. She plays guard and wing for the women’s basketball team and also competed on the Track and Field team.

In 2022, Lewis had the opportunity to intern for Yellow Springs Community Foundation. During her internship, Lewis developed skills in communication, promotion, and marketing while she helped spread word of community events through social media, flyers, and emails.

Most recently, Lewis is in this semester's spring musical production “The Wiz,” where she is playing the part of Addaperle (the good witch of the north). She was also selected by Cricket Wireless to be Central State's first HBCU campus ambassador.

Dr. Paul Schlag, Executive Director of Honors and International Affairs said, “Keante Lewis is one of the most charismatic leaders you will ever meet. Her positive and boundless energy makes others want to rally around her to accomplish great things. In Honors, we would not be surprised to one day turn on the television and see Keante as the lead broadcaster for the Super Bowl or as the President of the United States. The sky is the limit for what she can accomplish.”

Catherine Parson, head coach of CSU’s women’s basketball team, says, “Keante’ is the epitome of faith in action! She follows directions with her whole heart! She's what leaders are made of.”

When she completes her time at CSU, Lewis aspires to go into the Broadcast Journalism/Media field and desires to eventually become a News Reporter.

Lewis wishes to thank her family for pushing her to see her potential. Without them, she says, she would not have realized the impact she can have and the type of leader she can be. She wants to thank all her coaches who put her in leadership positions and instilled drive and the competitive mentality she has always had within. She also wants to thank all of the Honors College staff at Central State University for guiding her and leading her to the doors that have been opening for her to be the most successful student-athlete she can be.

A fun fact about Keante Lewis is that she loves animals and her first dream job as a kid was to be a veterinarian. She has 2 dogs and a giant teddy bear over 7 feet tall.
